Alexa Tarantino is a jazz saxophonist, woodwind doubler, composer, and educator. She performs regularly as a leader and sideman in the Rochester area and beyond in a wide variety of ensembles and genres including Tarantino/Terefenko. In 2015, she released her debut album Crossing Paths with Dariusz Terefenko. In 2014, Alexa was named the Yamaha Young Performing Artists Competition Saxophone Winner. Alexa's performance highlights include the Rockport Jazz Festival, the Kennedy Center and the Umbria Jazz Festival in Perugia, Italy.
Dariusz Terefenko is an associate professor of Jazz Studies and Contemporary Media at the Eastman School of Music. Terefenko's piano solo album, Evidence, offers his creative take on favorite jazz standards, jazz instrumentals, and own compositions. His latest duo project, Crossing Paths, features alto saxophonist Alexa Tarantino. In 2014, Terefenko published a book: Jazz Theory - From Basic to Advanced Study, which has already been adopted as a required textbook at the prestigious music universities in the USA, Canada, and Europe. In 2017, Terefenko's Jazz Theory will be published in the Polish language by PWM (Polskie Wydawnictwo Muzyczne).
